Pallet Planks to Rustic End Table in 1 Day

I made a rustic looking end table entirely made of pallet wood planks. Stained and weathered. Held together by dowels and glue.

Cut List:

  • 3.5″ x 26″ (4x, legs)
  • 2.875″ x 26″ (4x, legs)
  • 4.5″ x 18.25″ (8x, table tops)
  • 3.5″ x 17.5″ (8x table sides)

Prepare the wood – Chose nice planks that aren’t cracked and of similar thickness

Check for metal – Use a metal detector, worth every penny and will save your planer. Make sure no nails are left

Plane the wood – Plane the wood to an even thickness and a nice finish

Rip the wood to width – The cut list is posted above, rip all 3 widths

Slice the wood to length – Use a mitre saw to cut all the wood to length. Bundle the same length parts together.

Assembly of boxes – Use glue and a brad nailer to assemble the boxes

Assembly of legs – Add a glue line along the 3.5″ plank and attach to the more narrow plank with brad nailer.

Final Assembly – Attach the legs to the boxes. Make sure to add plenty of clamps.

Dowel Holes – Use a forstner bit to drill the 16 holes for the dowels.

Weathering – Weather with a jigsaw used in reverse. This will pop out as nice details when you’re staining.

Staining – I used a dark walnut color wood stain.

Add Dowels – Add glue to the dowels and hammer them in flush into the table.

Finish – Finish with several coats of polyurethane.

Done! – Enjoy your new end table! Please follow my youtube account for more content like this!
