Oak Towel Holder made from a rough cut oak 2×3

I made a wall tower hanger made from a rough cut 2×3 piece of reclaim oak. I used a 3D printer to make keyhole hangers.

Rip the 2x3s into 2x1s – Resaw the 2x3s into 2×1 planks.

Plane the wood – Make sure to plane sides to a smooth finish, it will avoid alot of sanding

Cut the pieces on the mitre saw – Make sure to mirror the 8″ parts that are the sides

Assembly – Use wood glue for every joint

3D Printed keyhole hangers – You can buy them premade or carve them with a plunge router too

Final assembly / Screws – Clamp everything down before letting it dry

Prestaining – This helps the stain absorb evenly

Staining – I went with dark walnut for the stain

Finish – I used acrylic polyurethane for the finish, several coats are needed.

Done! – Enjoy your new oak towel rack!
